This July 13th, the students of the school Nerio Emiro Semprun Polanco “Tepichi Talatshi” celebrated the end of the school year, in the town of Mara, in the state of Zulia.
The bell rang in the Unidad Educativa Nacional Nerio Emiro Semprun Polanco “Tepichi Talatshi” and this time not to signal recess, but to indicate that a new school year was over, along with many emotions and mixed feelings by the students from different grades. Approximately 400 children got together in the big school Churuata to celebrate and enjoy the end of the school year. Organized by grades, from preschool to 6th grade, they began the celebration by singing the national anthem in Wayuunaiki and afterwards in Spanish, they afterwards sang the anthem of the state of Zulia.
Aritina Fernández, intercultural education coordinator for the Wayuu Taya Foundation, shared some gratitude words to the foundation’s board of directors for making this celebration for the boys and girls possible, while also congratulating the students for their efforts and dedication for their grade promotion. “We thank the Wayuu Taya Foundation for all of their support, as well as all of the teachers for being our guides”, said Hajanny Chacín, a 6th grade student.
Under the organization of the teacher Lucy González, a group of students presented the play known as “El mejor director de Hollywood”, making everyone laugh due to their mischief and creativity.
Tepichi Talatshi’s directors and Wayuu Taya’s representatives gave the certificates to the new graduates as well as gifts to the students with the best grades. At the end of the celebration, Isabel González, the institution’s academic coordinator, thanked the presence and support of all of the representatives. The celebrated guests enjoyed a snack provided by Chops Venezuela.
