A group of volunteers from the Wayuu Taya foundation along with several missionaries from the Jesús Redentor Missiochristi parish in the Tamare municipality, in the Zulia state in Venezuela, they traveled to the Sierra de Perijá, specifically to the San Francisco de Sarapayi Community.
The Sierra de Perijá is reached by bordering and crossing the Tokuko River 36 times uphill, leaving from the Los Angeles Del Tokuko Franciscan Mission. During the visit the team was guided by the priest Fray Nelson, the missionaries carried out various activities with the children of the community and prepared food.
For over a year, the Wayuu Taya Foundation, together with various allies, has reinforced its programs in health and nutrition, in schools and communities in the Mara, Guajira, Jesús Enrique Lossada and Machiques de Perijá municipalities.
