Monthly Report
Fundación Wayúu Tayá
[September 30th - October 31th 2005]
FITCaR 2005:
The Foundation had a stand in the "Products, Services and Investments Section" at the International Exhibition of Tourism
of Caracas. We had the opportunity to promote our activities through distribution of English and Spanish brochures, and
showing the culture of the Guajira region thanks to the participation of two Wayúu women, we also sold T-shirts, caps and
Susú bags.
Aqueduct for Mara Municipality:
The approval of "Procuraduría General" on financing the construction of the aqueduct by the Andean Corporation of Development
was finally obtained. HIDROVEN is doing the related process of licitations at the moment.
Recent donations:
The books and school materials collected in Caracas by the Foundation were taken to Los Lechosos School.
Transportation of the donations made by Payless Shoes and Aid for Aids of medical tools is been done, now that we
obtained the certifications of "Sencamer", so they can be transported from Baltimore to Miami and shipped from there to Venezuelan port.
Evolution of Tepichi Talashi:
Members of the Foundation had a meeting in Mara on October 17th, with the Coordinator of "Tepichi Talashi", the
Director of Mayorship of Mara, the Coordinator of the Educative Community, and the Sub-manager of Social Development
of PDVSA for the Guajira sub-region; in that meeting the delays on hiring the teachers were explained. Now we are only
waiting for the endowment of FEDE to start the activities.
On October 21th the Operations Manager of Fundación Wayúu Tayá gathered with the Regional Director of FEDE, who said that the
endowment of the classrooms will be done within the next two weeks, including a playground.

We started labours on September 14th in the Integral Centre for the Indigenous Women "Shukumajaya"; there we receive
30 wayúu women, to whom 2 meals are provided, and the materials they need to produce their woven bags, while they
attend to education talks.
Project in Delta Amacuro region "Ine Warao":
During the month of October several meetings with agents of Fundación Tierra Viva were held, in order to develop a
common project for the Delta region of Venezuela
Fashion parade of Durant&Diego in May 2005, exonerated of Taxes:
The Mayor of Baruta Municipality approved the exoneration of 100% of taxes charged to the Fashion Parade of Durant&Diego
in may of this year, done on benefit of the Foundation.
Event in March 2006 on benefit of the Foundation:
We are having the preliminary meetings to organize the production of the anual event in Venezuela, where some samples of the "Manta Guajira" (typical dresses of Wayúu women),
will be shown by different designers with its own interpretations manteining its original form.
